Manitoba Trip - March 10, 2009

Thanks everyone for supporting my album and buying it up! Keep passing the word on to your friends and family to buy the album!

AMP Camp was great, but damn, Gimley Manitoba was cold. Zane and Otis came with - hung out at the hotel with all us amp campers. It was a life changing experience, to take in all the workshops and music that was shared there. I DEF. recommend to anyone interested in pursuing music to look into attending next year!

NATIVE ROCKS!
Friday after AMP Camp, I performed at the Pyramid Cabaret in downtown WinterPEG for the Native ROCKS! event hosted by Wab Kinew (from CBC Radio) and Melissa Spence (from NCI-FM). The show was great and I was honored to be the headliner for the night. Thanks to CBC and NCI for putting up such a rad show with other great performers: Jasmine Netsena, Angus Jordain, Jason Burnstick and Evan Reece.

Manitoba Music’s Aboriginal Music Program is pleased to announce the list of invited artists for AMP Camp 2009. A total of 40 strong applications were received, making the adjudication process both interesting and difficult.

AMP Camp is made possible by a partnership between Manitoba Music’s Aboriginal Music Program and the Music Section of the Canada Council for the Arts. The project provides the participants with the opportunity to develop their understanding of the music industry along with their ability to succeed in it. Each day of the five-day retreat includes close to 12-hours of professional development workshops on business topics and creative development labs to help the artists develop their music.

AMP Camp will be held in Gimli, Manitoba from March 1-6, 2009. The participants will benefit from the experience and expertise of a faculty of established artists and music industry professionals. This year's faculty includes Juno nominated recording artist Kinnie Starr (www.kinniestarr.com), Order of Canada recipient Heather Bishop (www.heatherbishop.com), world renowned percussionist Sal Ferreras (www.salferreras.com), world class dobro player Doug Cox (www.dougcox.org) and communications expert Heather Kelly (www.hkcmarketing.com). A number of other instructors will be added in the upcoming months to provide additional expertise to the group.

Canadian Aboriginal Festival - December 2, 2008

TORONTO - so this trip, was the best ever. I had such a great time at the CAMAs and I can't wait to submit my album for those awards next year! I met Buffy St. Marie after the show and I got a photo with her. She's the bomb. After the show I checked out the Digging roots after party and it was a packed house! Again, I was able to connect with some really cool people and promote my album, thanks to so many friends!!

The next day I checked out the powwow at the skydome (Roger's Centre) and there were so many vendors with awesome stuff. I connected with some key people there and even did a radio drop for Renagade radio. Later I checked out the AMP Showcase and performed "Breathe" and "Sto:lo Strong" after Tracy Bone and JC Campbell (who by the way, are really awesome artists). After that show we jumped in a cab to check out the iNative party to watch Crystal Shawanda perform!! WOW, that woman is amazing live...just imagine a rippin, native-country whitney houston and that's how awesome she can sing! anyways, i flew back home first thing in the morning and the whole trip seemed like a blur. I'm really looking forward to next year at the CAMAs, hopefully up on stage accepting an award!!!

Canadian Aboriginal Festival - TORONTO - November 28, 2008

SO exciting...i arrived here in Toronto last night and I got to hook up with my friend Paul Sayers for dinner. Afterwards I headed down to the Renaissance Hotel to celebrate with some friends after the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards party. Congratulations to Fara Palmer for winning the "Best Producer/Engineer" award and congrats to Nadine Gagne and Jason Burnstick for their great performance last night! Today I'm heading to the mall and getting ready for the Big awards night that will be held at the Roger's Centre (Skydome) and then later to the Digging Roots after party, hosted by my CUZZY Ostwelve!!!! I'm gonna try to walk the red carpet again, so stay tuned!!!
